DAMN im glad they changed that.

Owning the collectors edition for my wife and I on launch of FFXIV, it’s really come along ways with A Realm Reborn and the expansions that followed suite. We first met on FFXI back in 2003, and it’s great to see both games are still thriving.

Thanks to the UA-cam algorithm I was recommended this in 2024 insane how far the game has come happy dawntrail launch week everyone

why am I here???

In the day played Final Fantasy XI on the Shiva server and had plenty of jobs to max level towards the end I stopped playing it. I knew someone on the server who played as a Dragoon and their name was 'Terranova'. While I was leveling up they would help me out when I needed it and would power level me as well. One day they stop logging in. My favorite thing to do was playing as Thief and pulling a goblin to the AFK fishing bots then use the hide ability. The goblin would then start attacking the AFK fishing bots and end up killing them.

If only I could play this version on the PS3…

coming here before pre released Dawntrail certainly hits it right in the gut...like- knowing now that there was a version before realm reborn and seeing just how dark it all is- versus the now lighthearted gameplay we're about to experience....dayum

Huh. The XI jump seems to have an impact that the XIV jump doesn't. XIV wins in most other areas though.

Why does 1.0 environment look better? Also, the 1.0 jump looks better, too.

You're gonna want to update this again. They "sped up" the animation in FFXIV post Endwalker because "animation locks made casuals mad". So now it just looks and feels like trash. RIP Dragoons...

I will never not miss the weight 1.0 animations had to them 😢 Yes, I understand why we can't have that anymore in the high-pace battle environments of 2.0+, but it's the no.1 thing that will forever make 1.0 feel "real" to me and ARR+"plastic-y" and like a videogame, that people slide around mid-animation, jumps don't move you, running can be brought from 100 to a full stop with zero issue, and so on. It's just not how physics work. It feels wrong.

2.0 version is a lot better
